MON: Video Production 101 [Editing]

DO NOW: Line-Up OUTSIDE
with your 1 or 3 Partners
to get your new seat
No group grades (except for behavior)
so choose a partner that complements your skills.
ONE of you needs to be able to
show me homework footage already ONLINE
to get assigned a seat @ the Front of the Line
  • Once inside sitting:
        1. Turn on your new computer
        2. Open the Student Drive
        3. CREATE a folder called OLD (if it doesn't already exist)
        4. DO NOT  COPY the MOVIES folder into the OLD folder
        5. COPY ALL the old STUDENT files into the OLD folder
        6. MAKE a new FOLDER with YOR NAME as well
        7. Begin the lesson below by downloading the stock footage and continuing as best you can!
  • HOMEWORK & Announcements
    • Union Stuff for me tomorrow - sub for you (all work will be available on the blog, all DUE Wed/Thu so don't waste Sub Time!)
    • Continue filming How-To footage  as necessary
    • Watch a few different types of TV shows & COUNT how many shots they have in 30 seconds. Divide 30/by that number and you can see how many average seconds each shot lasts for that genre of TV.  Is ACTION the fastest? What about dance? What about romance? Reality? Game show?

  • UNIT LEARNING TARGETs:
    • I can learn to speak THE LANGUAGE OF FILM
    • I can understand and use the techniques of PROFICIENT VIDEO STORYTELLING to both entertain and inform [no matter what kind if equipment I have]
Lesson:

    • "Download Anyway"

    • Unzip it by clicking it in the Browser's bottom status bar

    • MOVE the footage to your newly cleaned Student Drive

Introduction to iMovie

    • Open iMovie from Spotlight

    • Create a NEW Project

    • Import all of clips of your sample scene (Scene 21 - look for a folder called 21) from the student drive: There are 3 ways to do it: Look for these places in the iMovie interface

    •  When you have them imported, see what you can figure out while you wait for others to catch up!
