Mon/Tue: Photoshop Day 17 - Independent Lessons (& work choices)


You should be done with all of the required tutorials by now... 
if NOT go back to an earlier blog post & start there. "Binder Check" for files THIS Week - complete all tutorials

Independent Portfolio Artifacts

    Announcements:
    • You have a SUB for John this FRIDAY and the MONDAY & TUESDAY  after Spring Break.  
      • You will receive a THREE DAY PHOTOSHOP project in class on Friday.
      • You must complete the entire project on the sub days
      • You will be able to collect materials over Spring Break if you wish 
      • It will be Due Tuesday, April 9th.  
      • We will look at your results together the following class.
    Unit Reminders & Resources:
    • Complete ALL missing past videos before continuing with this list
    • SAVE every document you work on for EVERY tutorial
      • You will need them for "binder checks"
    • Watermarked source images are ok in certain circumstances. 
      • For additional skills videos they are ok if they don't detract from the learning or demonstration of the skill.  
      • For portfolio projects you must REMOVE any watermarks.

      • From here forward you may use your own images if you wish and/or propose an independent project or non-curated tutorial

      • Continue with Independent Projects or Tutorials

      • It is recommended that you do these but they are NOT required. Additional Skill videos for Extra Credit
        • Curated projects/skill videos - (may or may NOT come with downloadable files - be creative)
          • Stretch Complex Images with Buildings or Trees
            • We are 1 Photoshop version behind so...  In the part with the lady on the beach (you will know when you get there) the new "Content Aware fill DIALOG BOX" doesn't exist.
          • How To Remove ANYTHING From a Photo In Photoshop
            • This one has some COOL shortcuts and good general information and practice but you need to use your own photos (or locate watermarked versions of the stock photos used). JOHN learned something when he went through this video!

      Portfolio Projects

      • Curated Tutorial Artifacts for your Portfolio
      • Approved INDEPENDENT Projects for your Portfolio
        • All independent work will include a complete written reflection detailing all salient actions that you took.
      • Complex independent tutorials
        • Complicated (over 20 minute) project tutorials from Youtube and elsewhere that use your skills in new ways or introduce new skills
        • Approved in advance
        • Multi layer
        • More than 20 minutes of video for single tutorial
        • Does NOT start with a PSD
        • Must submit all files and url of tutorial for credit to Google Classroom
        • Final file must be named as follows
          • First LastName - P# - Name of Artifact - Complete.PSD
          • so John might name a file
          • John Kittredge - P1 - Baby Godzilla Tutorial - Complete.PSD
      • Fully Independent photoshop projects
        • Approved in advance
        • Multi-Layer [5+/- as appropriate and approved]
        • Layer MASKS (no "erasing")
        • Has sophisticated selections using select and mask to feather and shift edges as appropriate
        • Is color corrected & balanced so that the layers look natural together
        • For advanced grades
          • Uses object removal, warps and fills to fundamentally alter the substance or geometry of the underlying images 
          • Advanced techniques must be provable as a change from originally submitted images.
        • Finished project looks unified and neat - not like a collage of pictures stuck together
        • Must submit all files used for credit to Google Classroom
        • Final file must be named as follows
          • First LastName - P# - Name of Artifact - Complete.PSD
          • so John might name a file
          • John Kittredge - P1 - Bad Hedgehog, no Camaro - Complete.PSD
