FRI/MON/TUE: Photoshop CHALLENGE & continuing with Portfolio Projects

You have three classes (2.5 hours TOTAL) to complete the Photoshop Challenges LISTED BELOW
You MAY get quiet help in your POD only, and you may use any internet tutorial resource that you wish 
Students attempting an advanced grade should take less than the full three days for the challenges and produce MORE work than that*
When you have completed the Challenge do these things in this order:

 1: Be CERTAIN that you have done the Challenges to the best of your ability
 2: Complete all missing tutorials
 3: *Continue with REQUIRED Portfolio Tutorial Projects
 4: *Continue with INDIVIDUAL Portfolio Tutorial or Freestyle Projects

  • All work is due TUESDAY, April 9th 
    • We will look at your results together the following class.
    • If you are off task and the sub reports you I will assume you think you are a master of these skills and I will grade you accordingly
Photoshop Challenge (s)
  • Finish as many & as much as you can on the Sub days
    • Use the quality criteria from the "Fully Independent Photoshop projects" section below*
  • Final file must be named as follows

    •  SUBMIT ALL SOURCE FILES with your completed PSD TO YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOM: FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS THERE

  • Challenge #1
    • Create an ad (like from a magazine, or online) for a real product that you LOVE
    • Include a high quality image of the product
      • take the photo yourself?
    • Do NOT copy an existing advertisement for that same product
    • You MAY take inspiration from other advertisements
    • Make us want to buy it by making it visually  appealing
      • Add in ideas and images to sell your brand
      • Use color, light, & shadow to make the image appealing
    • Add TEXT to the image as appropriate 
      • MOST ads have text but not all
  • Challenge #2
    • Create an image of yourself and at least two of your friends in one of these places [EACH person from a separate photo and on a separate layer]
      • Backstage at a famous person/group's concert
      • In the stands at a sporting event
      • In a FAMOUS MOMENT FROM HISTORY (Your audience needs to clearly understand what that moment is)
  • Challenge #3
    • Create an unexpected image of something nice (baby, puppy, kitten, you choose) doing something awful!
      • You may use these example ideas or come up with something horribly wonderful on your own.
        • Baby as Godzilla destroying a city
        • Puppy crushing people with its puppy butt
        • Kitten eating the faces from zombie people
        • Puppy decapitating someone with its wagging tail

    • Complex independent tutorials
      • Approved in advance
      • Multi layer
      • More than 20 minutes of video for single tutorial
      • Does NOT start with a PSD
      • Must submit all files and url of tutorial for credit to Google Classroom
      • Final file must be named as follows
        • First LastName - P# - Name of Artifact - Complete.PSD
        • so John might name a file
        • John Kittredge - P1 - Baby Godzilla Tutorial - Complete.PSD
  • *Fully Independent photoshop projects
      • Approved in advance
      • Multi-Layer [5+/- as appropriate and approved]
      • Uses Masks - has no erasures
      • Has sophisticated selections using select and mask to feather and shift edges as appropriate
      • Is color corrected & balanced so that the layers look natural together
      • For advanced grades
        • Uses warps and fills to fundamentally alter the geometry of the underlying images 
        • Advanced techniques must be provable as a change from originally submitted images.
      • Finished project looks unified and neat - not like a collage of pictures stuck together
      • Must submit all files used for credit to Google Classroom
      • Final file must be named as follows
        • First LastName - P# - Name of Artifact - Complete.PSD
