HOMEWORK:
Agenda: [60]
  • New Skill: Adding STILL IMAGES as B-Roll
    • Locate a large image with NO WATERMARKS that illustrates what your narrator or your interviewee are talking about
    • Download it and move it to your Period Drive
    • Import it into iMovie just like a video

    • It will show a CAMERA in the upper left corner of the thumbnail
    • ADD the picture/video to your project in whatever way you need it (usually as a cutaway) and select the footage in your timeline: Notice the length of the added video.  If it is more than 6 seconds you need to trim it to 6 seconds or less
    • With the footage selected in your timeline go to the adjustments area above the preview screen and select the CROP Icon
    • Adjust the camera moves and cropping as necessary
      • To do multiple camera moves in a single picture you will need to cut the video into multiple pieces and add a move on each one
      • "Ken Burns" moves around the picture
      • "Crop to Fit" Zooms in to fit a portion of your video on the screen - good for making minor Rule of Thirds adjustments and the like
      • "Fit" returns the video to original, with black bars if the aspect ratios don't match up.
