You are attending so that you can see what YOU will be doing at the end of your 10th grade year. You are also there to support your 10th Grade colleagues.Your Advisory MUST stay until 4:30 on your allotted AUDIENCE day, as follows:
- Failure to attend will result in a failing grade in Advisory and a lower GPA
- If you are asked to be on a sophomore panel during your scheduled audience time you will be excused to do so. If you are asked for a day that you are NOT scheduled to be here you do so on your own time

Food Inc. Socratic

- Google had it's I/O Conference last week and I'm wondering if we are seeing the future: a connected life utilizing an increasingly intelligent web.
- I'm hearing more and more of this stuff described as Web 3.0 and I'm beginning to believe.
- I didn't see a single cicada... dang it
- I had a great time
Agenda:
- Modified Socratic Discussion on FOOD Inc.
- Take a moment [actually, 10 minutes] to review the questions you answered about the film, Food Inc. [I'll show you the questions at the end]
- Choose the three you think you understand BEST
- We are going to have a discussion about the movie
- Write down some NOTES about your answers. You will need to contribute to the discussion even if your best answer was taken by someone else.
- Take your notes on paper or by using the TextEdit program on your computer
- Do animals have the right to a certain quality of life? Why or Why not?
- Do people have the right to know what is in their food? Why or why not?
- Who’s responsible for keeping our food safe? Why or why not?
- Should access to healthy food be a right for everyone? Why or why not?
- When deciding what to eat, how much should we consider the workers who pick, process, and transport it? Why or why not?
- Does it mater to you which food companies produce your food? Why or why not?
- Should companies be able to own the DNA contained in plant seeds?
- Should a company have the power to decide what information to give consumers about the food it produces? Why or why not?
- What individual or collective actions are you willing to take to improve our food system, and what would be their impact? Why or why not?

- Of the five New Yorkers that I have spoken with so far, FOUR had not heard of the cicada swarmaggedon... go figure! Should be a good weekend for bugs! Hope I see some. Here's some current articles on the invasion and the science behind it...

- I am available to help by text, off and on, until 9:30 or so, and then after 10:30. YOU MUST GET PERMISSION BEFORE YOU PULL OUT YOUR PHONE AND TEXT ME @ 510-684-3862

- Scan your original notes page from Tuesday's guest speakers
- Begin work on either website or typing work into a Google doc

Log in to your email
& click on SITES
Click CREATE
Choose BROWSE THE GALLERY FOR MORE
Select a Site Template
[look through the categories on the left]
Click on one to see more
Click on PREVIEW TEMPLATE to see it in action
Click on USE TEMPLATE to, uhhhh, use the template...
Now, Use your ORGANIZATION'S NAME
as YOUR SITE NAME
When you are ready
Click CREATE
Now Click SHARE
Under "Who has access" click CHANGE
Change the RADIO BUTTON to "Public on the web"
Check to make sure the "Access" is set to "can view"
Click SAVE
Under "Link to share" COPY the URL/LINK
using ⌘C
SUBMIT your Form
And start working on your website!
