⌘ Objective & Purpose ⌘
I can use my critical media and filmaker's lenses
to analyze and discuss the film FOOD Inc.
AND
I can budget my expenses so that
I will have money when I REALLY need it
These Days in History:
- Google had it's I/O Conference last week and I'm wondering if we are seeing the future: a connected life utilizing an increasingly intelligent web.
- I'm hearing more and more of this stuff described as Web 3.0 and I'm beginning to believe.
- I didn't see a single cicada... dang it
- I had a great time
Agenda:
- Modified Socratic Discussion on FOOD Inc.
- Take a moment [actually, 10 minutes] to review the questions you answered about the film, Food Inc. [I'll show you the questions at the end]
- Choose the three you think you understand BEST
- We are going to have a discussion about the movie
- Write down some NOTES about your answers. You will need to contribute to the discussion even if your best answer was taken by someone else.
- Take your notes on paper or by using the TextEdit program on your computer
- Do animals have the right to a certain quality of life? Why or Why not?
- Do people have the right to know what is in their food? Why or why not?
- Who’s responsible for keeping our food safe? Why or why not?
- Should access to healthy food be a right for everyone? Why or why not?
- When deciding what to eat, how much should we consider the workers who pick, process, and transport it? Why or why not?
- Does it mater to you which food companies produce your food? Why or why not?
- Should companies be able to own the DNA contained in plant seeds?
- Should a company have the power to decide what information to give consumers about the food it produces? Why or why not?
- What individual or collective actions are you willing to take to improve our food system, and what would be their impact? Why or why not?
