• You MAY NOT go inside ANY business or building - even if they say you can [do NOT ask]
• You may not sit on any cars, climb on any walls, or otherwise do anything but walk on the sidewalk unless John specifically tells YOU that you can.
• You MAY take a picture of anyone or anything you can see from outside
• It is polite to ask permission if you want to take someone's picture. If they are the SUBJECT of the picture then ask.
• If they are just "in the picture" and it isn't "of them" then permission is not necessary and will slow you down.
• You are ENCOURAGED to leave your stuff in the Lab - the door will be locked.

• "I do not believe that the photographic eye is something you are born with. I believe it is a learned way of seeing the world through a lens. Those who are out there that feel as though they do not have an artistic bone in their body – have hope. It wasn’t until someone gave me a boost of confidence(perhaps false confidence?) that I was ready to take on the challenge of photography. The photographic eye is simple. It is recognizing situations where the elements of art come together in a frame. It is opening your eyes a little wider and really paying attention to the details of the world around you."
• The "Rule of Thirds"
• "The rule of thirds is a good one for beginners to learn because it will get you ready to understand some of the more complex things you can do with composition. It’s pretty simple too. Always place your main subject in a part of the frame where the top, bottom, left, or right thirds meet. It won’t always create a photo that’s visually interesting, but it will do so more often than not."

• This is a trick born of the digital age - it costs you nothing but time to take a LOT of pictures, and the more you take the better chance you have of getting THE ONE.  It also allows you to experiment and take three similar but different pictures.

In theatre, a monologue is a speech presented by a single character, most often to express their mental thoughts aloud. It is the 10th-grade version of the Why Am I Keynote project. Look for similarities in the process.

Do NOW:

• Take a worksheet and complete the top THREE questions - the ones in the "Pre-performance" section
• What are your predictions about what you’re going to see today?
• If you had to write a monologue, what might you choose to write about?
• What are some things you can do (or NOT do!) as an audience member to make sure you’re supporting our performers today?
