      Apply today for the BAY-Peace 2015 summer program: Theater for Social Action! June 29-July 30th, 11 am - 6 pm, M-Th. This five-week (4 days a week) intensive training includes Theater of the Oppressed, Playback Theater, and community organizing for youth justice.


      The program is open to Oakland youth, 13-20 years old, who want to develop their creative performance skills to fight for justice, and against violence in their community. The program is free of charge and meets in downtown Oakland.


      PAID INTERNSHIPS: They also welcome participants who are enrolled in paid internships through ECCO, Mayor’s Youth Summer Jobs Program, Youth Uprising, YEP, Youth Uprising, Brothers on the Rise, etc. They can give you more information so that you can apply to one of those programs if you aren't already enrolled.


      Rolling admissions—Interviews start in April. Please use the online form to apply ASAP!

Their culminating "action" is coming up this Saturday.  They are organizing a youth Social Justice Teach In on various topics they believe are important. There will be around 100-150 students from six different Bay Area schools leading and participating in various student-led workshops. And the event is right here at EA!!! 
      • There will be workshops on gender inequity, mass incarceration, cyber bullying, environmentalism - locally and globally, police brutality, and more.
      • You can just show up BUT if you know you are likely to come please fill out this form

      The Clinical Immersion and Mentoring Summer Internship (RESUME NEEDED TO APPLY):

          Summer Intern
        • The Summer Internship is a seven (7) week (Orientation June 29th,Program July 6- August 14th, 2015, 15 years or older ) , full-time program where MIMS participants are immersed into direct patient observation, shadow mentors in patient care settings, interact with a broad spectrum of health professionals/staff and attend daily skill/leadership development seminars. Participants will observe patient care at a busy, urban emergency department, out-patient clinics and private clinics. In addition to the clinical segment, participants will be educated about the prevention and management of health issues disproportionately affecting marginalized communities with an emphasis on mental and sexual health. Participants will become peer health educators and teach younger students about the importance of health education.
