AR #4 - Final Reading Assessment

      Good Morning
      Warrior Scholars!
Today you are going to take
      your FOURTH Accelerated Reader
      online assessment of your
      reading comprehension.

This assessment is made up of a combination of vocabulary and short passage questions. You are going to do great.

For some of you it might take less than 20 minutes, for others it will take longer.  Don't trip. Remember, the test gets harder every time you answer a question right so DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!

It is ESSENTIAL that the classroom remain extremely quiet so that everyone has the best environment.

Take this test seriously because we are going to follow up with you to let you know how you did and to help you make reading goals, as well as help us to decide on the appropriate intervention for you.

This test is TIMED by the question. If you are running out of time a little clock will appear at the top of the screen. Try and answer the question soon if you see the clock.

When you finish the assessment BREATH for a minute and then explore these resources about Edward Snowden, prepare for your DLE Final, go to TypingWeb, or practice your Photoshop skills (ask before you do anything that is not on this list):

Snowden and Greenwald: The Men Who Leaked the Secrets: How two alienated, angry geeks broke the story of the year (Rolling Stone)

Edward Snowden, The Dark Prophet: He pulled off the year's most spectacular heist. Exiled from his country, the 30-year-old computer whiz has become the doomsayer of the information age

Edward Snowden: The latest on the computer analyst whistleblower who provided the Guardian with top-secret NSA documents leading to revelations about US surveillance on phone and internet communications

Report: NSA Collects Millions of Images Each Day for Facial Recognition

NSA Leak: Internet Giants Let Government Tap Your Data

Timeline of Edward Snowden's revelations: Al Jazeera's in-depth look back at nearly a year of NSA leaks by the former government contractor who fled from Hawaii to Hong Kong to Russia after releasing loads of documents on surveillance in the U.S. and around the world. Information below is compiled from outlets that first reported the data.

          • Using assets you have collected in advance and brought to class on the day of the final (poetry, images, etc...) create a piece of digital media that introduces yourself to your Sophomore teachers as you want them to "see" you.  This is a "bookend" to the "ME Photo" you did the first week of class.
          • When you are finished you will upload and share your final and complete a written reflection as to why it demonstrates your best learning from the year.
          • You have almost two hours to assemble the final. Whatever you do it must answer the prompt and introduce you to your 10th grade teachers.  Here are some suggestions for things you could do...

            • A Photoshop image showing how you have changed over the years and clearly revealing who you will "BE" next year

            • A portfolio of images you took (bring in images, create portfolio using  keynote, google docs, pages, preview/pdf, or iPhoto slideshow) with written commentary and guidance
            • A keynote that take the viewer through a poem or a piece of writing that illuminates who you want to be next year
          • STUDENTS WHO turned in a second film and make an honest effort on the final should pass the fourth quarter.
          • STUDENTS WHO turned in a second film and make a spectacular effort on the final should be able to raise their fourth quarter grade substantially.
          • STUDENTS WHO did not turn in a second film will still fail the 4th quarter but may pass the semester if they make a spectacular effort on the final
      • iMovie Film Festival [??]
        • Editing as needed and approved
        • Other Schoolwork as needed and approved
